THE RAVEN

It has been said that the Raven, or gjiga'qaquj ,  offers spiritual vision  to those he likes.

Raven can be a Magician , a transformer causing change , and a potent force .

Be careful.......he can  be a trickster.

He is also said to help humans  in the encounters with supernatural beings.

Indeed, he is companion to clouds and inhabitant of the tress.

He waits for his students. If you do not see him , then perhaps you are not ready.

Are these true traits? You decide.

Often Raven has simply been a friend to this White Wolf.

He has stirred inspiration within me , as I made my Journey into Silence.

GIVE ME SEPTEMBER

Some folk I know prefer the spring .
Others like it when song birds sing.
Some look at the winter glee.
But give me September.
Then gone is every insect pest,
Moskitos, mints and all the rest.
Those days I love the best,
But, give me September.
I noted one day on a gravel way ,
A sample of grit that was rare,
A bold seedling pine,
With needles so fine ,
It's life span strived to be there.
And the Parry Osprey on it south leading wings ,
Breast the air in tooting and talking .
It's affairs worked hard all summer long.
The ant like the bee ,
In industry ,
Does labour the whole summer long .
With respect sincere and ,
The winter severe ,
It's life span, too ,
It strives to prolong.
In this life of woe every thing likes to hang on,
And those healed dear ,
While passing down here,
You're not forgotten soon after your gone.

BREATH FROM THE HEART

Breath  from the heart and send energy you don't need into a cascade  of sunshine ,
even if you don't see the sun .
It is there....for you.
I feel your breathing ..
Feel the Earth breathing.
Blessings, as the Creator watches all the time.

SPIRITUAL SPRING CLEANING

SPIRITUAL  SPRING  CLEANING

Sometimes we need to spring clean our Inner Selves, and purify Mind, Body , and Spirit.

I like to spend time with Nature to renew my thoughts and to embrace all my senses, or to take  a trip to the Spirit World during an ancient sacred ceremony.

No two people walk the same Path in life. One has to respect the other's Path.

Also, some life experiences are between a person and Creator, the same as a fast...very personal.....and not easy to convey. One must respect and understand that words cannot express some journeys.

But, you can find wisdom in nature, if you listen.

When I confine myself to the heart of Mother  Earth, I become strong in Spirit and with a sacred object can visualize a healing which can echo at a great distance. Our own destiny and spirit within nature can provide healing.

Thus, sometimes people should be alone in Nature.

LIFE'S HARMONY

My stories are teachings.
And teachings are healing.
Healing is life.
And life is living in harmony,
With nature and all our relations.

HIGH MOON

HIGH MOON

 Consider the moon

All Creation responds to the energy and pull of the moon.

When the moon is full , people and animals seem energized and sometimes behave in strange ways.

We are part of the cycle of the High Moon.

This manifests as many forms of changes in plants , in non-human animals, and in people.

It is good to notice these things

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

Life is a Journey from ancestor ......to descendant.

While on vision quest, I sometimes shift into another world, one  not of this physical earth.

I survive as a being of energy.

I write only when it appears to me , as I walk the place of my ancestors.

It seems that my ancestors are walking with me in the daily work that I do.

My natural world can only be completed when my spirit will flow to my descendants.

It is a full circle.

Ancestors before, descendants later....meeting in now.

I am grateful that I am .

JOURNEY INTO SILENCE

KWE--Greetings,

It is so nice to see the trees and birds this morning as I opened my door .

This stirs a high in  my heart and spirit.....
.
After living in a coop for four years , in a sort of concrete jungle , my summer journey brought  much inner peace from dawn until dusk .

We  have much, and sometimes silence is the rush  that  heals any human kind.

To live , and to journey ,  off the land one has to prepare  one self to be humble about  what we can learn from the natural world and seasons. This  is always taken into consideration  when venturing  in the circle  of the spiritual world.

If I  look back at my life,  I really never spent too much time with humans .... Nor  their patterns of life it self .

There is a gap I have yet to cross  to understand the changes in human kind.

Upon this Mother Earth , to  which we will some day return,  my spirit  will remain in the blood of my seven grand children , and even then  there  will be a change. The one constant is change..

All in all, its great to be still alive.

So I have  to leave no stone unturned ,  and let them know who I really am ...

My coming book, the blogs , and hopefully the way I live my life , will be my legacy...... not just to my family, and to my People, but to ALL...

MY INNER JOURNEY

Within each of us there dwells a Shaman. There also lives a Teacher, a Healer, and a Warrior.
We each have to journey within, and indeed spend a duration in the Spirit World, to be able to connect with these separate aspects of Self.
When there is a merging of all facets, then we AWAKEN, and we are whole.
Until all aspects of personality merge, we may wander unfocused through life, forever seeking the missing pieces of ourselves.
Within the journey of all, one must encounter the inner being, in the spirit world and then drift back to the heart beat of Mother Earth . This I can do with an ancient teaching, with my drum and medicines.
The Mi'kmaq People are also on a Journey.....For years we have wandered in the lonely wilderness, with our culture and heritage shredded. Finally, we are finding our missing pieces.
The book, "SA'KE'J.....My Inner Journey" , which will be my BOOK 2 of a series, tells the story of my own Journey in prose, poetry, photos, and paintings.
It is hoped that in reading it , it will aid you in the awakening of your own Shaman within !

FROM THE BEGINNING .......THERE IS NO END

Fading from the beginning, there’s no end...
Upon arriving, struggling to attain proper health, our fore fathers engaged in travels on the wilderness area of this vast growing island, with artistic people that adopted to change and progress, to its dream that some day we would have FREEDOM.
We wanted a healthy and safe home and settlement to rear our children’s children .
The Mi'kmaw people should stand proud, in NL. and throughout Canada.
The rest of the world can study . We are, an unknown land, people, and resource development that took place over decades to acquire the fundamental values of a people.
Today we maintain a history of trails and grave sites of those people who fostered the respect of other nations on the land, and we uphold the teaching from Mother Earth .
We are so grateful to have this rock for our sacred bundles, our life and land.
You would have only to read two short stories to grasp living and dying and in this neck of the woods…

HUMILITY

Wanqwajite’teken.....Humility:
Humility is to know yourself as a sacred part of Creation.
In the Mi’kmaq language, this word can also mean "compassion."
You are equal to others, but you are not better.
Some communities instead express this with Wantaqo’ti, which in addition to "peace" can also be translated as "calmness," "meekness," "gentility" or "patience."

BETWEEN TWO WORLDS

I was starting my spiritual Journey, but  I got lost between the two worlds of  listening and hearing.

An Elder told me if I was lost and could't  find  my path,  to use all my senses at one time and in the simplest state of mind, body and spirit.

I was in my fourth stage of life ( 28 years old), trying to grasp the meaning of what the Elder was   telling me.  I had much respect for him and listened  all the time.

So I took a walk beneath a sacred place where my people once lived in harmony with nature, and I thought of what the Elder had told me.

After walking for some time I came upon a small creek and some unknown force of the  wind from the East gently flushed down through my body and surrounded me in all seven directions.

It took me a while to understand why this was all happening.   I know the seven directions of the sacred pipe, But the most important direction was myself, that I was not humbled or in balance nor in a simple state.

Then I looked up to thank the Creator and a sea gull flew by dropping a sea shell on the bank of the creek, so I took it and put the shell to my ear and I could hear the sound of the ocean .

I asked myself why I had left  my ocean home, those ample depths of blue, and up the river I would roam  so fully I would rue.

Then I sat on an old fallen birch tree and started hearing the ripples of the creek and birds chirping in the wilderness.

I could smell the Earth around me, looking to the west and the sun's  thousands of shades.  Then I started to finally smile as the evening grew near.

At the same time I  touched the bark of the fallen tree to the North and a vision rushed to my hearts content.

A wigwam , the  home of my ancestors...... I  could sense their presence,  and was once again content with myself.

I glanced  my eyes at the stump of the fallen tree to the South and to my surprise I counted seven tiny birch trees growing in the cycle of nature and I then could sense all my relations.

At this time my heart was beating faster and could hear what the Elder was telling me at the closing of the day….

And I understood.

ODE TO THE TRAILS

Long before the great world wars, Old Mose Muise and many more, came upon this rock. They struggled through the two, and left a mighty flock.
Our parties grew in seasons after our arrival, Over the seas, rivers, and snowcap mountains, with levels of natural fruits, nourishing our survival. Redman, once and still, only claiming medicine from those mother roots, Now lay to rest alongside!
Other countries searching for whales, cod or fame came , and left again and again and again. Upon the rocks, called mounds, no one could ever claim, left a mark in life, now nothing remains the same.
On the land so pure and free, the forest of white and black bears. The hopping of the artic hare, The cycle of the caribou, then sometimes rare, We ate salmon, beaver, eels and seal with our natural tea you see, oh! Our health so fine, Tis, to multiply our kind, the ancient ones canoed here for a long, long time!
Fore Freedom we had before, Here In NEWFOUNDLALD.
Landlocked down from all else, He gave us this all free, Now after wandering these centuries, we cannot survive, by the sea, or our pulp and paper drives, Our marble, and oil won’t fail this time... it is the end, Not just for me! But for the young and old we sent back out to sea.
In all life we only own, What elders leave behind. When poverty struck beneath this dome, It changed our course in time!
Those darkest days are long but gone, Now modern ways we call upon, No stones are left beneath the earth, that could ever tell all the tales, Still, all that death and all that healing, we.
Fore Freedom we had before, Here in NEWFOUNDLAND.

THE VISION

I sat,  singing a slow chant, and  whispered:

"All that I see will come together,
as if it was united.
They are  my Brothers'  and Sisters' Mother Earth".

I was awakened  to the voice of the echo of the Call of the Wild,  a loon.....

Greetings,

Elder Sa'ke'J Muise has many talents.......being a professional artist is  just one of them.

The ELDER says that he paints mostly during the Winter.

His work sells very quickly, once completed.

Each of his artistic works is the manifestation of a VISION.

First comes the  VISION, then the painting.
The Elder says " Yes. Sometimes when you are painting you are somewhere else. You in the world of the painting. You have to look for a way to get back the reality of life

Most of the world's greatest artists  speak of embracing the same creative process......VISION...then.... PAINTING !

Many new paintings done by the Elder can be seen above.
They have been completed on birch rind.
The ELDER speaks of his work:
"Wela'lin ":
"O kji niskam ,( O. Great Spirit ) has many gifts, and there are Many Teachings within that painting".
"That is where my Journey began ,with a Mi'kmaq woodland Pipe ,and a two sided drum, made by an Elder and when I was Chief in the St. George's band. He presented the sacred object to me in 1989 and I still carry then with me at times".
"The woodland pipe I passed it on to other people and the pipe still came back to me. I only use it for teaching in the day school system".
"It is very important to know the different kinds of pipes that women or men carry for different reasons. Some times it is only between you and the Creator and still there is understanding and knowledge you can share with others ".
In the past Mi'kmaq people often painted on birch rind using natural paints made from roots and plants.
These painting done by SA'KE'J are artistic manifestations following Vision Quests.
All are for sale. Please contact the ELDER..
Here are pictures of just a few of his creations, painted after Shamanic Journeying.

DREAM WEAVING

Here I will demonstrate what knowledge I have acquired  about baskets .

This knowledge came from three other artists in Western Newfoundland.

Sometimes I make baskets to sell.

I can be found on Face Book    as Victor  Muise .

You can also email me muisevictor@gmail.com .

We can discuss the style you want, the price, and method of payment.

The price depends on size and style.

All baskets are traditional Mi'kmaq spruce root baskets.

DREAM WEAVING , Part 2

DREAM  WEAVING

These are my first Mi'kmaq spruce root baskets. I was taught this skill by Melvin White, for whom I have much gratitude.

I used white spruce root.

These first  two baskets , below,  have no monetary value, as they are sacred to me and  thus, not for sale..Maybe when I get 30  or 40 done then I will think about selling some.

The creation process takes a lot of time.

They can be used for anything, such as berry picking , or just for use around the house.

THE SAFE HAVEN

The Creator is the boss and brings all the  changes , in the mist of dawn and until the fading of the sun.

.Humans..... pay attention to this  vast rising and setting.

Our Grand-father ,(Niskam)--the sun controllers , and (Sitqamuk), Mother Earth,...all  are beneath the shield of wisdom which  will follow the path of every living  kind  ,   below the earth and above.

There will be  a safe haven for all...
